Choosing a color for exterior use, care must be taken so that it fits into the environment. Unless the author has not intended otherwise, in painting buildings should be used more than one tone. Direct recommends single-tone for exterior, and another one for plinth painting. Different tones are recommended for painting building components you want to highlight, such as plinths, windows and doors, porch, balcony railings. Helpful are the tips:

  • The bright colors increase the building and contrast between the building and the landscape
  • Selecting the front tone, do not forget to match it with the fence, roof and roadway tone
  • Dark plinth highlights the basic building and better  brushes on to the surface

Proper surface preparation is one of the most important preparatory works to get high-quality painted surfaces. These tips are useful for preparing surfaces for painting interior, stucco, concrete, plastered walls and walls coated with glass fiber fabric or paintable wallpaper.

  • Bring out of the room or cover everything what is not meant to be painted
  • Before painting carefully wash the surface to be painted
  • If during washing wallpaper begins to peel, it must be removed completely
  • Plasterboard plate joints are reinforced with filler and a reinforcement tape
  • Plastered surfaces are grinded with coarse 100 to 180 grain sandpaper
  • After grinding the surface is cleaned of dust
  • Before painting the surface is primed

Ceiling painting Ceiling painting

Ceiling painting is not as complicated as it is sometimes held. When painting walls and ceiling of the room, start with the ceiling so that paint splashes do not get onto the walls. Before painting make sure that ​​you have all the necessary tools. Some tips for painting the ceiling:

  • Bring out of the room or cover everything what is not meant to be painted
  • With a brush paint the ceiling and wall joints
  • For ceiling painting we recommend using the 23cm wide roller and an extension handle
  • Start painting from the window and head in the direction of light
  • Apply a rich coat of paint and avoid roller "tracks"
  • During painting do not let the painting roll to become dry
  • The ceiling is painted with one single effort, so do without breaks during painting
  • The ceiling is painted in two layers
  • Apply the second coat of paint, when the first layer is completely dry

Wall painting Wall painting

When the ceiling is painted, it is time to get down to the walls. As with painting the ceiling, also before painting walls you should have all the necessary tools. To achieve the desired result when painting walls it is important that you follow proper technique:

  • Bring out of the room or cover everything what is not meant to be painted
  • Tape seal the ceiling in the places of wall and ceiling joints not to paint the ceiling
  • First, with brush or a narrow roller, paint the upper and lower parts of the walls
  • Corners of the rooms, narrow angles and hardly accessible places paint with a brush
  • Start painting from the window and head in the direction of light
  • Paint wall in long lines from bottom to top
  • Avoid splashing the ceiling
  • Roller must be equally soaked with paint
  • The walls should be painted in two layers
  • Apply the second coat of paint, when the first layer is completely dry.
  • Immediately after painting, while the paint is still wet, remove the tape from the ceiling.
